Ndola, 22 July 2024 – ZESCO United Football Club is making significant moves to prepare for the 2024/2025 football season. The club aims to leverage the summer transfer window to strengthen its squad, boosting its chances of winning the tenth Zambian Super League title and competing in the CAF Confederations Cup.
Key Player Departures
In a recent update, Club Chief Executive Officer Charles Kalala confirmed the departure of several key players. Kelvin Kapumbu, Lazarous Kambole, Nathan Sinkala, Kezironi Kizito, Jesse Were, Samuel Adeyemi, Mwenya Chibwe, Francis Elimbi, and Mpho Mathekgane have left the club following the expiration of their contracts. Additionally, the club has mutually parted ways with Collins Sikombe.
Kalala stated, “We tabled improved offers to some of the players that have left the team, but unfortunately, that could not persuade them to stay. We have already started scouting for replacements in these departments. The club will soon announce new signings in the coming days.”
Player Development Strategy
ZESCO United has also announced the secondment of Pascal Phiri, Justin Mulele, and Steven Chisenga to ZESCO Malaiti Rangers. This move is part of a broader strategy to further develop and expose young talent. Kalala emphasized the importance of this decision, stating, “These players remain a key part of this football club. We have taken them to Malaiti Rangers for further development and exposure. We will continue monitoring their progress.”
Looking Ahead
As ZESCO United fans and stakeholders look forward to the new season, the club’s management reassures them of ongoing efforts to build a competitive team. The club is actively scouting for new talent to fill the gaps left by departing players and is committed to making impactful signings that will enhance their performance in both the Zambian Super League and the CAF Confederations Cup.
