Zambia’s national football team, the Chipolopolo Boys, are preparing for a crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Morocco on Monday, September 8, at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
Morocco coach Walid Regragui has named a strong Atlas Lions squad led by PSG star Achraf Hakimi, Real Madrid’s Brahim Diaz, Manchester United midfielder Sofyan Amrabat, and Youssef En-Nesyri of Fenerbahçe. Former Chelsea winger Hakim Ziyech misses out on the list.
Chipolopolo coach Avram Grant has welcomed the return of Fashion Sakala after more than a year out, alongside foreign-based stars Kings Kangwa, Lameck Banda, Kennedy Musonda, and captain Lubambo Musonda. Joseph Liteta of Italian side Cagliari is expected to complete the squad, while Austria-based Kingstone Mutandwa has withdrawn citing personal reasons.
Zambia, who sit on six points, will be aiming to close the gap on Group E leaders Morocco, who boast a perfect 15 points from five matches, including a 2-1 win over Chipolopolo in the reverse fixture.
Tickets for the Ndola clash are already on sale, starting at K30 for early birds, K50 for North and South stands, and ranging up to K300 for VIP seats.
The Levy Mwanawasa Stadium is expected to be packed as Zambian fans rally behind Chipolopolo in their bid to upset Morocco and boost their World Cup qualification hopes.
