24 July 2024 – We proudly introduce Leading Aircraft Woman (LAC) Malambo Malambo, a distinguished Third Dan Black Belt under the Judo Association of Zambia. Starting her judo journey at the young age of 10, LAC Malambo aimed to use the sport for self-defense and personal development.
Career Highlights:
- Champion in the 57kg and 63kg categories
- Gold and Silver medals in various regional games
- Transitioned from active competition to refereeing, becoming Zambia’s only female continental referee
- Officiated Junior and Senior Championships across Africa
- Officiated at the 2019 All-Africa Games in Rabat, Morocco
- Currently serves as the Red Arrows Judo coach
- Ranked 16th in Africa
As a newly graduated Zambia Air Force Airwoman, LAC Malambo continues to give back to the judo community through her role as a referee and coach, demonstrating her love and dedication to the sport.
In martial arts, including judo, a “dan” is a ranking system used to denote levels of proficiency or expertise. A “third dan” is considered to be an advanced level.
